ATONEMENT

Director: Joe Wright
Studio: Working Title, Universal Pictures

"Gorgeous cinematography, a lilting score and near-faultless performances...make this the first contender for next year's Best Picture Oscar." gazettelive.co.uk

The filmmakers of "Pride and Prejudice" reunite for Atonement, based on the award-winning, best-selling Ian McEwan novel. Directed by Joe Wright the story centres around fledgling writer Briony Tallis who, at 13 years old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's (Keira Knightley) lover (James McAvoy) of a crime he did not commit.

Led by Visual Effects Supervisor John Moffatt, Visual Effects Producer Stuart McAra and VFX co-Producer Kristopher Wright, Double Negative managed over 200 challenging visual effects shots for the film. These included crowd replication, underwater environment creation, explosions, planes, smoke and beautification of buildings. One of the most challenging of these was a live-action shot on the beach at Dunkirk lasting 5 minutes and 27 seconds.

Atonement opens in cinemas 7th September 2007.
